Kristine Sprague, AIA specializes in residential design. Since 1999,
Kristine has been expertly designing new residences as well as additions
and alterations to existing homes. Located in Lenox, Massachusetts, she
has renovated many historic houses built between 1790 and 1920 and is
extremely conscientous about working within the home’s existing
style to create a finely detailed addition or well-crafted renovation.
Kristine works closely with clients to develop a design scheme via 3D
computer modeling. A final design gradually evolves, taking its cues
from the existing structure, the context, the Client’s vision,
and the Architect’s knowledge of current design and construction
techniques. Each project results in an innovative solution, employing
classical design principles of proportion, scale, suitability, comfort,
and elegance. Sustainable design solutions are seamlessly incorporated
throughout the process.
Kristine also has experience with restoration and rehabilitation of historic fabric such as original windows, timber framing, wood paneling, plaster moldings, mantles, and stone and brick masonry. In the 1990’s, Kristine became involved with the restoration of Ventfort Hall, a brick Gilded Age mansion completed in 1893 for the Morgan family. She has helped to oversee many aspects of the restoration of this historical structure, including an accurate set of elevation drawings for the mansion and carriage barn. She has been on the Ventfort Hall Association’s Board of Directors since its formation in 1997.
